Let’s be honest it’s not always that easy to keep up with current interior design trends. Decorating a home is an expensive hobby and the choices you make for your home are often an investment. 1. Graphics

It looks like this trend is here to stay. Which is good news for those of us who splashed out on various geometric furnishings last year. 2018 introduces a move from subtle prints on accessories and art work to much bolder statements such as walls, ceilings and flooring. There are some gorgeous wallpaper and flooring designs appearing on the market, so there is plenty of choice. Whether it’s a statement wall or a subtle accent, this is the perfect way to add colour and texture to your home.

2. Colour Blocks

This season it’s all about being bold with colour. Say goodbye to clean white interiors and hello to vivid coloured shapes and patterns. Millennial pink, violet, navy and emerald green are among some of the most popular colours at the moment. Get creative with shapes using contrasting colours and experimental to add that personal touch. Other paint effects rising in popularity are ombre and stencils. Paint can be reasonably priced and easy to prepare for, making it the perfect medium to redecorate your home on a budget.

3. Tropical

From large scale leaf prints and safari wildlife to over sized insects and exotic birds; add a splash of colour and contrast to your home by going tropical! Another continuation from last year, this trend is still going strong. This season’s rich shades of green, combined with stronger darker colours such as charcoal and navy can be found all over the high street in wallpapers and furnishings. If you’re wanting to brighten your home on a budget, there are some wonderful home accessories out there at the moment or simply try adding a variety of tropical house plants, to bring the outside, into your home.

4. Dark Wood

It looks like we are starting to move away from the lighter shades of wood that have been so popular in previous years. There has been a surge of richer darker tones adding warmth and glamour into the interior design world. Shades of walnut and oak are replacing beech and white washed wood, providing contrast and depth. There are more and more darker woods appearing in the flooring and furniture industry, providing a variety of style, design and cost.

Add to touch of elegance this year with some of this season hottest gold home accessories. A much warmer metallic than silver, gold is the perfect embellishment to add a sense of decadence to your room. You’ll see gold lamps, chandeliers, door knobs and picture frames as well as paints, wallpaper and furniture. Even the flooring industry are adding a touch of sparkle to flooring and carpets, so there are plenty of ideas to choose from.
